16 images"Blood Memory” is an exploration of the memory you were born with, that which has been passed down to you from your ancestors. Scientists prefer to call it, “genetic memory.” This ongoing series is exploration of my blood memory. It is an effort to reclaim and re-identify what it means to be a black and a woman beyond the constraints of colonization while considering the effects of inter-generational trauma. I seek to define this narrative through photography and digital collage. This work juxtaposes ancient symbology and Africanisms with new media as a means of communication, exploration, and expression of how the past interacts with the future.
